News From 2S
Dear 2S Families,
It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is almost here. I would like to wish all of you a happy, healthy, and safe holiday break! Below you will find a few tidbits about upcoming events. Thanks and have a great weekend!
Strawbery Banke Field Trip:
Our trip to Strawbery Banke was a great success! The students were very excited to participate and learn about the community of Strawbery Banke and how Thanksgiving became a holiday. Does anyone know which president was responsible in helping Thanksgiving become a national holiday? Feel free to ask your child to see if they can remember. I would like to give a special thank you to Claudia Tobon, Ali Bennett, and Diane Lawley for helping out as chaperones. Their help was greatly appreciated!
Book Fair at SMS:
The Scholastic Book Fair will be coming to SMS after Thanksgiving Break. Hopefully you received a flyer earlier this week about some of the books for sale. This year each class will have a specific time to go down to the book fair and have an opportunity to buy some books. Buying is optional. Our class time is on November 29th at 12:45pm. If you would like for your child to buy a book at this time, I would suggest placing money in an envelope to keep it safe. The book fair is also open after school, so if you would like to take your child at a separate time to buy that is fine. The fair is open Nov. 28th-Dec. 2nd. Please see below for days/times.

2S Field Trip News
Hello 2S Families,
Just a quick reminder that we will be taking a class trip to Strawbery Banke on November 16th. The bus will be leaving SMS at 9:00 am and will be returning around 12:45 pm. Upon returning to SMS, we will be eating lunch in the classroom. We are asking that all students bring in a bag lunch that day due to returning to school after the cafe closes. If you would like your child to purchase a bag lunch from the school cafeteria, please let me know by Friday. A special thank you goes out to Diane Lawley and Claudia Tobon who will be joining us as parent chaperones for the trip. If you should have any questions about the trip please let me know.
PTO Spaghetti/Bingo Night:
On November 18th, the SMS PTO will be hosting the Spaghetti/Bingo Family Night starting at 6:00pm. Information will be coming home on Thursday about this night.
Veterans Day:
There is no school this Friday due to Veterans Day.

Hello 2S Families,
I hope you all had a fun and restful Halloween. I wanted to give a special thank you to all families who helped with our Halloween party. A special thank you goes out to room parent Tricia Larson for her tremendous efforts in making sure the party was successful. Below you will find some information about our upcoming field trip. Please contact me if you should have any questions.
Field Trip to Strawbery Banke:
Field trip permission slips have gone out for our trip to Strawbery Banke on November 16th. We will be leaving the school around 9am and returning around 12:45pm. There has been one change for our trip concerning lunch. We will be returning to SMS to eat instead of going to Prescott Park. Students will still need to bring a bag lunch or order one from the SMS Cafe, as we will be returning to school after the cafeteria has closed. If you would like the SMS Cafe to make a lunch for your child please let me know.
There is no cost for students for this trip. The school is also able to provide free admission for 2 chaperones for the trip. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in chaperoning on our trip. If we have more than two parents who would like to chaperone, I will draw out of a hat for names. If your name is not picked you are still very welcome to join us. There is an $8.00 fee for additional chaperones. If you should have any questions please let me know.

Snow Gear for P.E. Tomorrow
Dear 2S Families,
Ms. Locke is planning on taking students outside for some winter fun tomorrow during P.E. class. She is asking that students have snow pants, gloves, hats, jackets, boots, etc. Have a wonderful Valentine's Day and please let me know if you have any questions.
